Titans Face Off Against Cardinals and Panthers in Home Finale
Darlington, SC- Trinity Collegiate School hosted a rare early afteroon wrestling tri-match on Friday, January 16, welcoming Lake City High School and Cardinal Newman School. The day featured several strong individual performances from the Titans while facing two experienced programs.
In the opening dual against Lake City, Trinity earned victories at multiple weight classes. Luciano Chavez (120) delivered a dominant showing with a 16-0 technical fall, while Stanton Stonerock (126) secured a pin to put points on the board for the Titans. Wyatt Ogburn (215) added another highlight with an impressive 25-9 technical fall. Mateo Chavez (106) picked up a forfeit win to close out Trinity's scoring. Lake City ultimately won the dual 60-22, capitalizing on several forfeits throughout the lineup.
Trinity then faced Cardinal Newman in the second dual of the day. Despite the final score of 78-3 favoring Cardinal Newman, the Titans continued to compete hard in every bout. Mateo Chavez (106) earned Trinity's lone team points of the match with a hard-fought 6-3 sudden-victory decision, showcasing grit and composure late in the contest.
The tri-match provided valuable mat time and experience for Trinity Collegiate as the team continues to develop and build depth throughout the lineup. The Titans will be back in action tomorrow as they head to Marlboro County High School for the Spence McNeil Invitational.
