Titans Finish 3rd at Region III Championship
Sumter, SC- The Trinity Collegiate boys' track and field team had a strong day at the SCISA Region III-AAAA Championship at Wilson Hall, highlighted by a region title from Garrison Copeland and several top-five finishes across sprint, distance, jump and throwing events.
Copeland led the way for the Titans, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.62 seconds. Teammate Dre'den Bethea finished right behind him in second place at 11.69, giving Trinity a one-two finish in one of the meet's premier sprint events.
Bethea added another top-three finish in the 200-meter dash, placing third with a time of 23.75.
In the distance events, Jake Warren earned a top-five finish in the 3200-meter run, placing fifth with a time of 10:50.96.
Trinity also picked up key points in the field events. Copeland finished second in the high jump at 1.73 meters, while Kevin Iheanyichukwu placed third in the same event at 1.58 meters. Andre Jackson added a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.73 meters and tied for fourth in the triple jump at 11.25 meters.
In the throws, Jonathan Cottingham finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 33.27 meters and fifth in the shot put at 10.49 meters. These strong performances were key in helping the Titans to a third-place finish on the evening.
