Varsity Boys' Sink Swampcats In Historic Night
Darlington, SC- There was a lot to celebrate in Sonoco Gymnasium on Friday night. Energized by a strong showing from the student section and playing on the newly officially dedicated Candace & Jim Brown Court, the Titans roared out to a 17-point lead en route to a 61-57 win over the visiting Swampcats from Laurence Manning Academy. This was the Swampcats first region loss, and moved the Titans in to a tie for first place in SCISA 4A, Region III.
Jy'ell Preston (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) lead the Titans with 22 points on the night and also set a historic career milestone. On a putback with 7:48 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Preston scored his 12th point of the night, which also pushed him past 1,000 career points in his illustrious Titan career.
The Titans will be back in action on Friday, January 30th as they head to Hilton Head Christian Academy looking for a season sweep of the Eagles in another region matchup. Tip-off in Bluffton is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
