Bio
Bill Truman enters his seventh year at Trinity Collegiate School, bringing with him nearly four decades of coaching experience across multiple sports. Over his 39-year career, he has served as both a head coach and assistant coach in track and field, as well as a head coach in cross country.
A graduate of Francis Marion University, Truman’s dedication to athletics and youth development has earned him national recognition, including being named the 2011 USATF Volunteer of the Year and receiving the USATF National Coaches Award in 2015.
An accomplished multi-sport athlete himself, Truman captained his high school football and baseball teams, earning a varsity letter in football (1 year), baseball (3 years), and cross country (1 year), while also competing in JV and freshman basketball.
Originally from Mauldin, South Carolina, Truman is passionate about the impact athletics can have on a student’s future. He says the most rewarding part of coaching is “getting to work with these amazing students both in the classroom and on the field and playing a small role in getting them ready for their future.”
Truman and his wife, Alicia, have been married for 37 years. They have two children—daughter Samantha (married to Kraig) and son Andy (married to Katie)—and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren: Tucker (3), Levi (1½), and Peter (1).
