Titans Dominant in Victory at King's
Florence, SC — Trinity Collegiate Junior Varsity Titans turned in an impressive performance on the road Thursday, rolling past King's Academy 15-2 behind a balanced effort at the plate and strong pitching.
The Titans wasted little time getting started, jumping out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. George Taflinger delivered a two-run single to open the scoring and set the tone for the afternoon.
Trinity Collegiate broke the game open in the second inning, plating seven runs on seven hits. Prue Branyon drove in two runs with a single, Taflinger added another RBI knock, Marshall Campbell contributed a two-run single, Reagan Huxford brought in a run with a base hit, and Tilman Campbell capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Titans continued to add on in the third inning. Caleb Saleeby doubled down the left field line to drive in a run, Branyon followed with an RBI single, and William Fox brought home another run during a double play to extend the lead.
On the mound, I'yhon Robinson got the start and worked two solid innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two. Eli Flowers was excellent in relief, tossing three innings and allowing no hits and no earned runs while striking out three to secure the win.
Trinity Collegiate's offense racked up 15 hits in the game, with Robinson leading the way with three hits from the leadoff spot. Marshall Campbell went 2-for-3 and drove in a team-high three runs. Fox, Saleeby, Taflinger, and Branyon each added multiple hits in the victory.
The Titans were aggressive on the basepaths, swiping eight bases, with Robinson and Hucks Kirven each recording multiple steals. Trinity Collegiate also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks.
King's Academy managed just a pair of hits, with Ayden Thomas and Kinton Patel each driving in a run for the Lions.
The Titans will look to carry the momentum into Friday's matchup on the road against John Paul II. First pitch in Ridgeland for the final game of the season is set for 4:30 PM.
