Titans Run Past Cavaliers
Darlington, SC- The Trinity Collegiate junior varsity baseball team earned a 9-5 win over Lee Academy on Wednesday at Rhea Field, powered by a fast start and an aggressive offensive attack.
Lee Academy struck first in the opening inning, scoring on a groundout to take an early 1-0 lead.
Trinity responded immediately in the bottom half of the first, jumping in front 3-1. Caleb Saleeby singled in a run, Prue Branyon scored on a walk, and Marshall Campbell crossed the plate on a flyout to give the Titans the lead.
The Titans extended the margin in the second inning with a four-run outburst. Hucks Kirven highlighted the frame with an inside-the-park home run, while Saleeby added another RBI single. Branyon doubled down the line to drive in a run, and William Fox contributed a sacrifice fly as Trinity built a commanding advantage.
Trinity added another run in the third inning when Iyhon Robinson came around to score, helping the Titans maintain control the rest of the way.
Saleeby led the Titans both on the mound and at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs while also striking out five over 3.2 innings of work. Robinson appeared in relief to help close out the victory.
Offensively, Saleeby and Kirven each finished with two hits, while the Titans showcased an aggressive baserunning effort, stealing eight bases as a team. Robinson, Branyon, and Reagan Huxford also drew multiple walks to help fuel the offense.
Lee Academy was led by Aiden Powell, Dawson Ham, Michael Weatherford, and Wyatt Broach, who each drove in a run. The Cavaliers also drew six walks and added multiple stolen bases in the contest.
The Titans return to action Friday when they host Laurence Manning Academy. First pitch is set for 4:30 PM.
