Branyon Collects Three Hits as Trinity Collegiate Defeats Williamsburg Academy
Darlington, SC – Sophomore Prue Branyon went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and delivered a strong relief outing on the mound as the Trinity Collegiate JV Baseball Team defeated Williamsburg Academy, 6–2, on Wednesday.
Trinity jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Sophomore William Fox grounded out to drive in two runs, giving the Titans a quick advantage.
Williamsburg Academy battled back to tie the game in the fourth inning. Eli Brown produced a run on a fielder's choice before Henderson Livingston added an RBI single to even the score at 2–2.
The Titans responded in the bottom of the fifth to regain control. Fox drove in the go-ahead run with another groundout, and Sophomore Caleb Saleeby followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4–2.
Branyon continued to pace the offense, collecting singles in the first, third, and fifth innings. Trinity finished the day with 11 hits as a team.
Freshman Hucks Kirven started on the mound for the Titans, allowing one hit and two runs over 3.2 innings while striking out four and walking five. Branyon closed the game in relief, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out five.
Fox led Trinity with two RBIs from the middle of the lineup. 8th Grader I'yhon Robinson, Saleeby, and Sophomore James Hanna each added multiple hits in the win. Robinson and Branyon also swiped multiple bases as the Titans finished with five stolen bases.
Defensively, Trinity played a clean game without committing an error. 8th Grader Eli Flowers led the effort with nine defensive chances.
Williamsburg Academy was led offensively by Livingston, AJ Tanner, and Brycen Wheeler, who each recorded a hit. Brown and Livingston each drove in a run, while John Wayne McKenzie drew two walks as Williamsburg Academy collected seven walks as a team.
