Titans Top Bears to Continue Winning Streak
Darlington, SC – Trinity Collegiate continued its strong stretch of play on Tuesday, powering past Carvers Bay in a 15-2 victory fueled by a big day from Brody Phillips and a balanced offensive attack.
Phillips led the way with five RBIs on two hits, delivering in key moments throughout the game. He drove in two runs with a double in the second inning, added a two-run single in the third, and capped his performance with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Carvers Bay struck first in the top of the opening inning, taking advantage of a Trinity error and a steal of home to grab an early 2-0 lead. The Titans responded quickly in the bottom half, as Davidson Lynch drew a bases-loaded walk and Bennett Bradshaw followed with an RBI single to even the score at 2-2.
Trinity took control in the second inning, sparked by a Robert Mack triple that drove in a run. Phillips followed with his two-run double, and another Carvers Bay miscue allowed an additional run to score, giving the Titans a 6-2 advantage.
The Titans continued to build separation in the third inning. Phillips came through again with a two-run single, and Lynch added an RBI double to extend the lead. Trinity put the game out of reach in the fourth, erupting for five runs behind a three-run triple from Jaylen Clark, an RBI single from Garrison Copeland, and Phillips' sacrifice fly.
On the mound, Miller Buchanan turned in a strong performance, tossing five innings while allowing just two runs—both unearned—on two hits. He struck out eight and worked around four walks to keep Carvers Bay in check.
Offensively, Trinity collected 11 hits on the day, with Phillips, Tyler Smart, and Clark each recording multiple hits. The Titans also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Copeland leading the way with two.
Trinity's aggressiveness on the base paths remained a key factor, as Phillips and Copeland each stole multiple bases and the team totaled eight steals overall.
With the win, Trinity will take a three-game winning streak and solid momentum into spring break. The Titans will be off next week before resuming region play against Laurence Manning on Tuesday, April 14th. First pitch in Manning is set for 7 PM.
